The Smashing Pumpkins have been tipped for two South American dates for the last week of June. According to a press release from Buchanan’s, makers of Scotch whisky, the Pumpkins will be participating in the brand’s “Share Yourself” charity. The venture invites residents of Caracas and Bogotá to volunteer four hours of their time toward local education initiatives, and in return receive tickets to attend a performance by the band. According to a Facebook update by Buchanan’s, the band is to play Caracas’s Centro Internacional de Exposiciones Caracas on June 26 (the Pumpkins’ first-ever Venezuelan show) and Bogotá’s Royal Center on June 29.
In other tour news, earlier today we learned the Pumpkins are to play their first-ever show in the Philippines on August 7.

For those of you in Quezon City, Manila, or thereabouts, know this:
smashing pumpkins night at route 196, this thursday with performances from the vince noir project, day one movement, marty mcfly, area5, chilitees, plane divides the sky and more…
I wonder how often Smashing Pumpkins Nights happen — not just at Route 196 or in the Philippines, but generally, in the U.S., Belgium, Qatar, wherever. Anyone ever been to one?
