In a video posted today to the Smashing Pumpkins’ official YouTube account, bandleader Billy Corgan gives fans an introduction to the band’s ongoing Oceania tour. Corgan discusses topics including how the band went about translating the songs of Oceania to the stage, the writing process for “Panopticon,” the process of selecting of songs for the tour, the creation of the tour’s complex visuals, and his bandmates’ contributions to Oceania.
The band’s U.S. tour includes the following dates:
October 10 – Everett, WA – Comcast Arena
October 12 – San Francisco, CA – Bill Graham Civic Auditorium
October 13 – San Diego, CA – Viejas Arena
October 14 – Universal City, CA – Gibson Amphitheatre
October 16 – Broomfield, CO –1st Bank Center
October 18 – St Louis, MO – Chaifetz Arena
October 19 – Rosemont, IL – Allstate Arena
October 20 – St. Paul, MN – Roy Wilkens Auditorium
October 23 – Auburn Hills, MI – Palace of Auburn Hills
October 27 – Boston, MA – Agganis Arena
October 31 – Brooklyn, NY – Barclays Center
November 2 – Camden, NJ – Susquehanna Bank Center
November 3 – Fairfax, VA – Patriot Center
November 4 – Uncasville, CT – Mohegan Sun Arena
UPDATE: According to Pumpkins friend site Crestfallen.com, the Smashing Pumpkins are planning a southern leg of the United States Oceania tour. There is a rumored South American tour date at a Chilean music festival that runs November 10-11, around a week after the Pumpkins’ Connecticut gig; if that rumor proves to be true, the proposed southern leg may not directly follow the northern leg.

AAWWWW disappoint! >:-p
SP at THE PALACE. That is all.
Is that really the FULL tour? If so, they are completely ignoring the south and most of the west and central US. They’re basically doing the great lakes area, Northeast, and California. That is pretty weak and disappointing if that is the FULL tour.
I gotta believe there will be more dates listed later.
Steven, I actually edited the post and headline a bit because you’re right, it might not be the *full* tour. I got a bit over-excited. But, there is a rumored tour date in South America at a Chilean music festival that runs November 10-11, which is only around a week after the Connecticut show. So, I sort of wonder if there might be more US dates, but perhaps in the more distant future, after a swing through South America or even Europe.
According to Monte, Billy says there will be a southern-US leg of the tour, but it isn’t finalized yet.

We’ll see if the Chilean rumor pans out or not, I guess.
Nice to see SP in Camden this time, last couple tours they played Tower Theater in Philly. Susquehanna is part outside (lawn) and ‘inside’ under a tent.
Alright, San Diego here I come…
Has anyone ever purchased a VIP package before? This VIP package seems particularly sweet…do you just buy it the same as you would tickets for the concert?

Anyone know any details about the VIP tickets? The information on how to get them is incredible vague, it doesn’t even mention if they are out yet. I am having difficulty finding stuff out but maybe they are not ready yet? Been trying to see for the NY show (though my guess would be the following Friday along with the GA tickets)
Anywho, really exciting stuff. I guess this confirms them continuing the Australia style set list of “Oceania+greatest hits” Can’t wait to hear Oceania, though I wish they didn’t play such a “rotten apples” hit list but I can’t complain, the 2011 set list they had was near perfect. Oceania is what I am most excited to see for sure.
400 premium, 225 gold? ouch
Are they still doing the soundboard USBs? I’d like to get another if I make it to the Broomfield show. That, or hire Copperpot to make a DVD.
@Just_Erick
If it’s like it is for the Canadian tour, you just select the VIP tickets from the dropdown menu at Ticketmaster. For example:
http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/11004911B230DA2E
Obviously, not every show may be going through Ticketmaster though. But I htink it should be pretty easy to find. According to a tweet from SP, the pricing is the same as it is in Canadian… Although of course the Canadian VIP tickets are being sold in Canadian dollars, which isn’t quite the same…
@DyingHorseBlues
Haven’t heard anything about soundboard USBs, but we didn’t hear much about them prior to the 2011 tour either – although we had some sense that they were going to be selling soundboard recordings, we didn’t have many details about them until the day of. Who knows. Tweet at Billy if you want them, I bet it makes a difference…
I guess since I haven’t heard of “Citicard” before I’m ineligible for the Monday presale. And no, I’m not going to apply for another credit card just to get tickets.
I think the fact that a “full” tour hasn’t been announced yet probably goes back to Billy’s comments about how hard it is to do a coast-to-coast announced-all-at-once tour nowadays.
Ok, so I guess it is pretty clear there are two presales on Monday, just a password required for those without a Citicard, no need to panic. :)
@Susan, You are correct, its only drop open selection and they are only available the day the tickets go on sale. But did some research and still no confirm on how much they will be. Only Friday will tell I suppose.
@Just_Erick
The SP twitter did make the following post:
I would interpret the “same everywhere” to mean that the same dollar amount they are charging for the Canadian dates, they are charging for the US dates. Of course Canadian dollars ≠ US dollars, so there’s a bit of a discrepancy or point of confusion in the tweet. If that makes any sense.
For reference, the Canadian prices are as follows:
Bronze CA $125
Gold CA $225
Premier CA $399
Maybe I am going retard but that video automatically rang this bell lol
I couldn’t decide so I got the San Francisco tickets today, and I will buy the VIP package for NY on friday. I hope they switch it up a bit more but very excited either way.
wuts a sandseat ticket?
The sandbar tickets are apparently a kind of preferred/better seating in the middle of General Admission. SP posted about it on Twitter:
VIP should be $400 for premium. Password for presales is TEARGARDEN. I’ll be aiming for the VIP for Chicago.

Should clear things up…
Soundboards or not, I’ll be making audience recordings of SF, SD, and LA. Lets hope I’m lucky and find a sweet spot at the bigger venues :>
Nice, EW! :)

Anybody else notice that the Gibson Amphitheater show in LA is no longer on the Ticketmaster schedule? And the LiveNation link on the Upcoming spfc.org page is no good either. I noticed this yesterday but decided not to say anything unless it continued into today. Presale isn’t until tomorrow, but the Chicago show is on the schedule despite the presale starting tomorrow. Hopefully just a glitch and not something worse…
@apm. Presale for Chicago is September 4th per the Pumpkins website. Where did you see August 28th?
Oops, sorry, eyes got crossed between the SF and Chicago shows on the ticketmaster website. Chicago is the 4th…
I noticed that about LA show link going down, too. The pre-sale isn’t until tomorrow, and a lot of the pre-sale links for today weren’t up yesterday, so I feel pretty good about the chance that it will go up tomorrow when the presale is supposed to start…
L.A. link is up again:

So I bought a premium seat with my VIP package at 10AM for the show in St. Louis, and right after, I did a search to see what the second best seat would be. 6 hours later, did a search again, and the second best VIP premium seat is still available. I wonder how many/how many people will buy the premiere VIP package, and if so, how many have opted for the GA?
@gyang, I got my GA tickets for SF yesterday, and plan on getting the VIP NY show on friday as well. Anyone that is going to the VIP shows, expect a very small intimate crowd for sure. 400 dollars is a lot of money.
Interesting. At least for LA, the VIP packages don’t have extra fees attached to them, so the bronze VIP package only ends up being $15 more than the most expensive regular ticket.
haha you pay 400 to stand behind the GA tickets.
@EW
which is a really great deal considering you get a free copy of Oceania, and a signed poster. That’s way worth it in my opinion. And I think all three levels of the VIP packages only have minimal fees, like $2 for each of them, as opposed to like the 20-30 that ticketmaster charges…
@gyang333: yup, bronze was totally reasonable for LA. I might do it for SD, too, depending on what tickets look like next week
/me goes to look for a casual fan to give his copy of Oceania to…
Also, KROQ is having their own presale at 10am tomorrow (Aug 29) for the LA show. I wonder how many presale tickets are allotted for that… (password: horns)
[...] is to play three additional dates just prior to those previously announced for their Canadian and US Oceania tour. The band will play Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater in Austin on September [...]
I bought two premium tickets for Chicago.
Went back into ticketmaster and they were gone by 10:10.
