The Smashing Pumpkins' Pisces Iscariot reissue, reviewed by @en_cohen p4k.in/MaIxNf— Pitchfork (@pitchforkmedia) July 19, 2012
That was a good article. If I remember correctly the reporter said the Billy didn’t try to make Landslide his own. I disagree. Whenever SP do covers they are always their own.
Yeah It’s like the time Trent Reznor said he cried from Cash’s version of “Hurt” because in his opinion it was superior to his own, same with “Landslide” when Billy released this Stevie Nicks should have wept.
didnt bill’s version make the dixie chicks weep, so they had to make their own?
He meant Billy didn’t “overproduce” it. It’s a back handed compliment. Personally I think that his version of “Landslide” is the definitive version. Stevie Nicks’ range isn’t really cutting through on the notes as much as his is, her voice is warmer. His reasoning for Darcy singing “Daydream” on the album is the reverse of why I think “Landslide” is definitive with his voice.
For being a review, they really didn’t “review” anything..
One of the least horrible things I’ve read from Pitchfork in awhile.
The only thing that pissed me off was when he called the word mixtape “bullshit”. When you’re making a mix tape don’t you try to make it like an album, with highs/lows ect.? Great article otherwise though.
