Billy Corgan, on National Public Radio: “My compulsion is to be a visionary mystic, and music has been of course my most successful form of communication, but I’ve also communicated through video, poetry, and just being a public pain in the rear. That’s part of my function.”

So now he’s stating out loud what some of us of known all along… thanks for a great album Billy
Good interview. Worth listening to.
All good. )
try being visionary with your fuckin website communication baldy. “Your back/special order has not yet arrived. Please know that we are working on getting it for you as soon as possible. As soon as it arrives, your order will be shipped!”
fuk off (topspin) its your bloody website how can your products have not arrived
you buy through the website to support the band and they don’t even have the stuff ready for relase date – but to be fair they’ve only had 8 fucking months and the flexidisk debacle to learn from
end of rant
I doubt Billy is the one running his website.
yeh too busy brewing up and eating pancakes
bet he pays for it – and gets any profits that the sales make.
just saying hes all about the “user experience” – that inludes the website. Talking of which where’s all this embracing the new media visual stimulation. So far we got a photo gallery and a large ball shaped projector
So Dan Angell, you ordered Oceania through Topsping and it hasn’t even shipped yet? Is that right?
If that is the case, that is awful. I ordered Gish and SD reissues through Topspin and wound up cancelling the order and buying it at Best Buy. And Topspin was so pathetic that they actually still sent me Gish and SD free of charge. I did not order from Topspin this time. Learned my lesson.
But personally attacking Billy’s pancake eating habits… tst tst tst.
I cancelled my order because a week after release, they still hadn’t shipped. I left that out above.
Top Spin is terrible, I did get my preorder on time from them this time around with the actual album but on the day that album released they had some new t-shirts so I ordered one still have not gotten it in the mail, and I have 2-3 days shipping on it.
Also I ordered a shirt from them about a month ago, they sent me the wrong one, contacted them, they said they could send me the right one with a return slip for other one, I think for my time, I should get to keep both shirts.
I was part of the initial Topspin debacle, but since then I’ve used them for pre-orders from other bands and the proper orders have always shipped in a timely manner, which is why I went ahead and pre-ordered Oceania via the O-site. It came the Tuesday of it’s release, which was a relief. That said, I do wish the Pumpkins would go another route. I thought they said they weren’t going to use them anymore after the reissue mess, but maybe I read something incorrectly or that was just wishful thinking. I really hate to see so many people still having problems.
@steven yeh like your reissues a week after release not shipped. and it’s only cos i asked them how to track it that they told me. I ordered one of the bundles – but that doesnt matter if you advertise summit as in stock it should be available.
well TopScam run the offical site ecomm so I assumed theyd be doing it properly
heh – billy can schkoffle as many pancakes as he likes if he keeps comin up with stuff like oceania.
@Kiernana
They got rid of Bandmerch, which was in charge of order fulfillment (ie the ones to ship the orders out). I assume what happened was that Bandmerch fucked up bad and didn’t make sure to arrange for enough copies to go through the official SP channels and were left with a huge deficit of goods. This time if anything is fucked up, it’s entirely up to TopSpin, since they’re in charge of fulfillment as well.
Glad to see them on NPR- I’m sure Billy doesn’t want to be seen as “Dad rock” but I have heard a lot of great music from NPR programming over the past few years
Ahhh, ok. Thanks.
Fresh Air reviewed last Tuesday’s “other” big release from Fiona Apple today. Been wondering if they would touch Oceania, and I suppose they still could, but it seems Billy’s not relevant enough to the weekday NPR audience.
if anyones interested i got this from topspin:
We apologize for the inconvenience. Unfortunately, there is no tracking number available due to the shipping company that the package was shipped with unexpectedly going out of business. However, the orders were handed off to different postal carriers so you should still be receiving your order within 7-21 business days (Monday-Friday) via International Standard Mail starting with the 6/18 shipping date. We do apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused.
