Jay Aston and James Stevenson from the UK lineup of Gene Loves Jezebel joined the Smashing Pumpkins for an encore last night at the Pumpkins’ second London date. Here’s video of their collective performance of “Stephen” off the Jezzies’ Immigrant album:
Also check out video of “Tonight, Tonight”, which the Pumpkins added to give a little extra variation in song selection from night one to night two.
This exact setlist they do since the beginning of the tour, plus Tonight and say 1979 and I think we are closer than ever to the most unanimous setlist that SP can play.
Why can’t Jeff’s tones be that good for Pumpkins’ songs?
Playlist for Sheffield O2 Academy. Some might be in the wrong order. It was pretty amazing and Corgan smiled a lot.

This is exactly the set they played in glasgow last week. It was amazing. I really don’t understand the negative reviews I’ve been reading….
The reviews then are either not being written by the truest of tru-fans or the reviewers have no ears or eyes #nootherexplainationpossible
This was in the guardian. Bullshit, is all i can say…. http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2011/nov/16/smashing-pumpkins-live-review?INTCMP=SRCH
negativity rules this sick world .. it’s scary and funny at the same time
I hate biased reporting. I remember reading I think it was Blender, a long time ago, and it said something like No Doubt sucks in some blurb. I was like ‘wth’. (No Doubt was one of my favorite groups in the early 2000s)
Spin Magazine is a little on the hipster side, but I like it and its mostly observational writing. I really like Filter Magazine, because it’s all observational.
That Guardian review mentioned above was hilarious. Ian Gittins is criticizing Billy for having a “stratospheric ego,” meanwhile Ian’s using phrases like:
“a fearfully portentous sub-Led Zeppelin workout that vanishes up its own tuneless fundament in a welter of self-importance,”
and
“a maddening, truculent whine in which he contrives ever more elaborate and baroque ways to convey his preening, non-specific angst.”
The whole review is like that. Amazing. It’s a must – just remember to bring your dictionary. Ian did.
If there’s been one problem with SP since the reformation, it’s been the non-specific angst Ian Gittins touched on. Specific angst is totally the way to go. Obviously.
durhhhh…..
[...] The band has often pulled out surprises when they play two shows in the same city (most recently a guest appearance by Jay Aston’s Gene Loves Jezebel in London), so we’ll keep this post updated with any interesting [...]
