Nice song. Mike looks so much older lately.

2. internetcliche - 2:09 pm // Saturday, October 8, 2011

edit: The riff reminds me of Mina Loy from TheFutureEmbrace.

3. lala - 2:10 pm // Saturday, October 8, 2011

real emotions! yeah!

4. internetcliche - 2:11 pm // Saturday, October 8, 2011

(the “I’m just one wish away” section)

5. TheLoneCreature - 2:12 pm // Saturday, October 8, 2011

Out of all the songs from Teargarden/Oceania this is my favourite! I hope it hasn’t been messed up with synths and stuff for the studio recording!

6. gyang333 - 2:36 pm // Saturday, October 8, 2011

does Monte actually not read HU anymore?

7. MonteLDS - 2:40 pm // Saturday, October 8, 2011

I would be better if you credit this as from Crestfallen.com

8. Martin J Rios - 2:47 pm // Saturday, October 8, 2011

The part about Monte seemed a bit catty. Hopefully this isn’t the start of some fresh drama. Lord know as Pumpkins fans we could do without it for once. I love both sites for the record.

9. jjb - 2:47 pm // Saturday, October 8, 2011

So he’d told me, but hey, look, hi, Monte

10. redhandcorgan - 2:53 pm // Saturday, October 8, 2011

Pale horse please come back…………ehhhh lyrics are getting worse and worse
why cant we get more lyrics like “Ride on, motherfucker” or ” bang band your dead hole in your head” or even “ka-boom, a rat-tat-tat, and some good ole bliss
cause i’m a sister, and i’m a motherfuck
i am made of shamrocks, i am made of stern stuff
i am never enough, i am the forgotten child
and i said i wanna fill you up, i wanna break you, i wanna give you up
from one another, no one should ever come
in between us, between us and our love”

but hey i want my horse back ????????????

11. lala - 3:15 pm // Saturday, October 8, 2011

@redhandcorgan

lol

12. wemustneverbeapart - 4:37 pm // Saturday, October 8, 2011

@redhandcorgan
Well maybe because songs that you mentioned were written about his deteriorating marriage while this one is about Martha and words like “motherfuck” or “i wanna break u up” would be pretty inappropriate?

13. Rota - 5:07 pm // Saturday, October 8, 2011

Correction. Those songs were written about Courtney, not his marriage. We don’t want Billy writing any more songs about Courtney.

This song sounds pretty. This is the one he said he wrote about his mother, right?

14. T.Monk - 8:18 pm // Saturday, October 8, 2011

Final Correction. Silverfuck – Chris. XYU – Court. I’m open to suggestion on Slunk.

15. redhandcorgan - 9:10 pm // Saturday, October 8, 2011

slunk is about kurt cobain!!!! LOL

16. The Great Pumpkin - 11:00 pm // Saturday, October 8, 2011

XYU is the greatest breakup song ever written

17. redhandcorgan - 11:44 pm // Saturday, October 8, 2011

18. JCelsius - 12:44 am // Sunday, October 9, 2011

@redhandcorgan You are a tool. Why don’t you stay off this website and just listen to your old Pumpkins records. I think it would make you and everyone else a lot happier.

19. T.Monk - 12:48 am // Sunday, October 9, 2011

Kurt? Yeah, ok, I’ll buy that.

@The Great Pumpkin If by “breakup song” you mean fuck you, you psycho bitch. Now get the fuck out of my life song, then, yes.

Im pretty sure we have newbie fans in this thread… you can tell when they love and defend everything bolly does even when it sucks they say ” its great” we love you bolly you bald headed psycho child abused son of a drug addict messed up childhood , suicide thinking ,crooked tooth freak!!

28. Justin - 10:58 am // Sunday, October 9, 2011

@redhandcorgan I’ll take “newbie fans” over you. Just sayin’.

29. ISellComics - 11:50 am // Sunday, October 9, 2011

I’m with Justin on that one.

30. armogi - 1:05 pm // Sunday, October 9, 2011

what about the show?
i was there personally, not sure if its just me but it was kinda so so, borderline boring even. there was a bit of improvement with cherub rock, billy even smiled then (for the first time in the show) but that didnt last long… nice setlist otherwise but oceania songs weren’t that great to me, i hope they sound good on the record at least.

31. Just_Erick - 2:00 pm // Sunday, October 9, 2011

@armogi Dude you have got to be kidding me…The Oakland show was beyond good, there were people at the show who have seen the pumpkins over 20 times and they said they have never seen him sing Starla, Obscured, Geek, Soma..ect as well as he did that day.

The crowd and energy by the end of the night was ecstatic, Billy even played Pinwheels on top of what was planned. And the new songs (especilaly Quesar and Panopticon) where great man. It was a really strong show and the best concert the pumpkins had in a really long time.

32. Tyler - 3:17 pm // Sunday, October 9, 2011

Did they ruin My Love Is Winter? I just can’t even… there’s no slow build anymore.

33. Just_Erick - 3:20 pm // Sunday, October 9, 2011

@Tyler, My Love is Winter was the only song I didn’t care for. Infact I dont even recall how it went (and yes they changed it)

34. redhandcorgan - 5:48 pm // Sunday, October 9, 2011

@armogi when did those 20 time people here billy sing
obscured a song that has not been played since 1992 maybe a handful of times
Just more BS from the fake crowd??????

The new songs are nothing to cheer about……boring is right even when i saw them in asheville in 2007 it was kinda boring even left the floor for a while to get some air in the hall way…. as was plenty other people there too…….. just not the same band.. not hte same feel.. not the same energy sorry whatever billy says the 4 of the original made the show with energy even if it was hate for each other!!

35. Here is why - 7:46 pm // Sunday, October 9, 2011

……@34
Retarded “Adam”?

36. Cereal - 9:36 pm // Sunday, October 9, 2011

Why the fuck do you people still exist, let fans be fans without putting them down every time they get excited about something. If this band doesn’t entertain you anymore why must you spoil it for those who still appreciate the music…it makes absolutely no sense to me.

37. lziayo - 2:02 am // Monday, October 10, 2011

its true i like the new songs, go away noobie old skool clingons

38. Marek - 6:09 am // Monday, October 10, 2011

People like redhandcorgan (whoever or whatever it is) are just like little children. They desire attention desperately. Let´s not give to them, shall we? As long as you continue to response to such silly hateful posts, you´ll humour people of that nature. Just ignore the annoying person and it´ll soon be over.
Well, now to the main topic of the thread. I´m so curious about the new songs, but I can´t allow myself to be taken over by curiosity. I´d much rather listen to Oceania without any previous encounter of its melodies, song structures, lyrics. That´s what I did back in 2003 – 04, when I started discovering the SP discography. Every record was terra incognita and the discoveries were priceless. I still believe it´ll make the first listening more powerful and enchanting. November seems so far away though… It also sadens me that there have been no singles announced whatsoever. I´m sure most of us fans would do with one or two.

39. Cereal - 7:18 am // Monday, October 10, 2011

You’re right but some of us have tried that approach and I don’t think it’s doing much. Anyway, I caved in and previewed all the new material even though I promised myself I wouldn’t but I gotta say I’m even more excited and I’m sure were getting slightly different versions on tour. I definitely won’t be giving in when it comes to the old material though until I see it live :)

40. Justin - 8:31 am // Monday, October 10, 2011

@Marek Good call.

As far as listening to the live versions before we hear the studio versions go, back in 98-99, I recall there being live audio of some of the Machina stuff available online. It didn’t ruin the experience of hearing that album for the first time. Same thing with Zwan. And then again with the Zeitgeist material.

It’s interesting to listen to the live versions first, because you have no idea WHAT you’re listening to. But, it’s all personal preference at the end of the day.

Me? I’m pumped for Oceania. November can’t come soon enough!

41. redhandcorgan - 8:37 am // Monday, October 10, 2011

Im more pumped for the reissues and have SP play full albums live and leave out any stuff after 96!! YAY!!!

42. PJS - 8:48 am // Monday, October 10, 2011

God lord redhandcorgan is freaking childish moron. Can someone please sterilize him? These are by far the best songs Billy has written in a LONG time. This is the Pumpkins thru and thru. These shows sound amazing and the new songs are so good its kinda ridiculous. I mean the songs from Teargarden and the songs on Zeitgeist are alright but there definitely seems to be a lack of creativity lyrically but with Oceania this is a whole other ball game. BEAUTIFUL, rockin, well written, no “la la de da da’s”, and yeah. Oh and btw there is NOTHING wrong with synthesizers! I can’t stand all of you simple minded idiots who think “it’s gotta have blasting distorted guitars and angry lyrics with swearwords in it or else it totally sucks!” Grow up and stop talking because you have shown the rest of us how dumb you are and no one cares what you think.

43. PJS - 8:50 am // Monday, October 10, 2011

and I promise you that Smashing Pumpkins will NEVER play a full old pumpkins record live. Billy wants to move forward and you are stuck in the past.

44. PJS - 8:53 am // Monday, October 10, 2011

@Marek
Youre right. I don’t why I felt the need to rant on redhand…I totally just fed his underdeveloped childish brain some word sugar. Now he’s probably all hyper again. Sorry all

45. Justin - 9:26 am // Monday, October 10, 2011

Playing a full record live seems like what he’s against these days. Especially since Pavement did it, I can’t ever see Corgan going “Hey! Let’s do a two night stand of Mellon Collie!”…

I won’t ever say “never”, but something terribly wrong will have had to happen if it ever DOES happen.

Now. That’s not to say they won’t do a full Teargarden / Oceania concert. That seems like a real possibility. I’d actually welcome that, too. While I love ‘Ruby’ and ‘Frail’, I’d love to be at a Pumpkins show when they played nothing but new stuff. That seems like it would be a huge step forward.

I’m sure there’s people that say they wouldn’t go to a Pumpkins show if they DIDN’T play older material, and those are the same people that would want them to play a full show of nothing but Siamese Dream and it’s related b-sides. These people are the same ones that don’t really give a shit about what the band is doing today, and I’d welcome them to NOT go to a Oceania / Teargarden only concert.

Anyway. I think the band sounds amazing live right now. The future looks bright to me!

46. ginger shackleton - 3:33 pm // Monday, October 10, 2011

The future is indeed bright! I can’t wait to hear oceania properly, and am hugely excited by the prospect of seeing the new band; I couldn’t resist checking out the new tunes, they sound fantastic. I don’t really get this current trend for bands playing a show with a whole old album, it seems like a really boring idea. For me, the point of touring is to promote new music; I’ve seen the pumpkins do a set mainly drawn from Mellon collie, in 96. It was fantastic then, why would I want to see it again? Nostalgia is all well and good, let’s look to the future people! Let’s face it, the pixies have all their original members, and are still galivanting around doing doolittle shows. Which is lovely, but frankly dull. Is love to hear new pixies music, but they won’t make any. Big bill, by contrast, is busting his balls to give us new music, which we should be thankful for.
I am.
So to sum up: the future’s now, the past is gone. Get over it.

47. Jonk - 9:06 am // Tuesday, October 11, 2011

I’m sure My Love is Winter will sound great along with the rest of the album, but I was kind of dissapointed to hear how much they changed it. I will reserve my judgement for hearing the record.

Regardless, everything that I’ve heard from Oceania so far sounds really top-notch. You can really see Jeff and Mike and even Nicole shine in the new sound

48. misty - 4:50 pm // Wednesday, October 12, 2011

they killed “my love is winter” .. they did
