Billy Corgan has tweeted that a “Smashing Pumpkins Record Club” is on its way, apparently to be an outlet for the band to release songs from its archives. Corgan says an unreleased demo from 1992 will be given free to anyone who signs up for a (free) membership. The band has also promised a video announcement from Corgan about the project. The Twitter account @sprecordclub has been in existence and operated by the band since February.
The Smashing Pumpkins have discussed many options for releasing archival music to their fans over the last several years, with a “fan club” model being announced as early as April 2009.
UPDATE: Those who have signed up to STAY INFORMED via SmashingPumpkins.com are supposed to receive a “Free [ed. (free)] Record Club Membership!” as well as a password that will help them access concert ticket pre-sales.

It is starting to come together! Can’t wait to hear the demo!
It’s cool that this is in the works. I do think it’s important that the releases really be stuff that hasn’t been heard before, though. SP was prolific with demos, etc, and there’s so much that’s been readily available for a long time (Gravity, Reel Time, stuff like that….if it’s just better quality/mastered stuff like that, I still can’t really get excited about it). Hopefully it’s awesome “new” stuff.
I want the Oceania demos!
Billy’s claimed there’s lots of “never-heard-before” material in the archives…but we’ll see what actually gets released.
this is great to hear.
(i know i have a bit of a wait) but id like zwan plz.
How much does anybody want to bet that this never comes to happen?
I will bet a million dollars it does happen.
Turn towards Eye. Sign me up..
If they just played soma, mayo, snail, frail, geek, ruby, porceliena, here is no why, etc.. and mixed in some new songs then there would be NO negativity towards the current incarnation of the band. I know it isnt 1993 anymore but my God, play what made you famous and play your best material. If Billy wants to put on a good show then he should play his best songs.
sorry wrong place
Great,
….another announcement.
@magpie33 no, actually is another announcement for another announcement :D
but honestly the last time we didn’t had to wait too much for the announced billy-video
anyway looking forward to hear. I really hope they will surprise us with something seriusly never been heard, like gsmamz said

Kinda rubs me the wrong way that Billy would do that. Way to choose favorites for such important news. Oh well.
