Sweet! Chris Lord-Alge mixed just about every album I listened to from my childhood to early teens. Hopefully that means the mixing of these songs will actually be good…

2. SirRobin - 10:52 pm // Tuesday, February 22, 2011

Also didn’t know he mixed G.L.O.W.

3. breathesgelatin - 11:21 pm // Tuesday, February 22, 2011

If I’m understanding correctly… 2 songs already finished as of December + 2 songs being mixed today = the 4 songs on EP 3?

4. jon - 11:52 pm // Tuesday, February 22, 2011

Awesome.

5. yust - 12:09 am // Wednesday, February 23, 2011

i’m so done following Teargarden’s progress. the songs are all good, but it’s been a complete failure when it comes to how it’s been released. Listening to anything Billy says is a waste of time now.

6. gyang333 - 1:10 am // Wednesday, February 23, 2011

@Breathesgelatin

no, unfortunalyey I think you are mistaken.

Billy said he was re-cutting his vocals Wgich leads me to think they were still tweaking the two songs they recorded back in November. He also goes on to say that these two songs are the first to feature the full band since 2003 and we know the November teaks featured the full band = same songs. Not 4 unreleased.

7. Just_Erick - 1:17 am // Wednesday, February 23, 2011

Im sure people like Yust will jump on the bandwagon if Billy were to create that explosion wow EP/songs… But then again thats a big if.

But EP 3 in march, I hope and can’t wait. Im just slightly lowering my expectations than before.

8. yust - 1:57 am // Wednesday, February 23, 2011

i’ll be listening either way. i’m just not happy with billy.

9. Jonk - 3:20 am // Wednesday, February 23, 2011

Kinda makes you wonder what they have planned up their sleeves for these two songs :)

just so happy it’s the whole band. Seriously- that’s what made Zwan’s recordings awesome

10. Misery - 8:43 am // Wednesday, February 23, 2011

Yeah, I don’t like how he keeps/kept mentioning that he has more than one song ready for release, but still leaves months between each release. Not good, man.
But I guess sitting on four songs means he’ll be able to release them more frequently?

Also, considering he’s not touring, he COULD potentially release at least 3 more EPs this year perhaps, since he wouldn’t have any promotion via touring… would be nice.

11. yust - 10:08 am // Wednesday, February 23, 2011

yeah but wasn’t he sitting on multiple songs this whole time? he’s always had songs up his sleeves, yet still made us wait. for instance, what the hell happened with Fellowship. that was ridiculous.

12. josh james - 10:17 am // Wednesday, February 23, 2011

And then release them a year from now.

13. breathesgelatin - 10:48 am // Wednesday, February 23, 2011

@gyang
Yeah, I realized that later last night based on the remarks Nicole made in her Q&A. Ah well. At least it explains why we haven’t gotten a song yet in 2011- those 2 songs weren’t really done yet. So total fail on my part, the 2 songs we were told were done back at the end of 2010 were NOT really done – or else Billy just decided to work on them a bit more. So 2 songs are nearly done, NOT 4.

@yust
What happened with Fellowship seems pretty obvious to me… it went up on the Pumpkins site almost exactly 3 months after it was released on the VD soundtrack… seems pretty clear that they had a contract stating VD would have the song exclusively for 3 months. About the songs, it seems that only 2 songs are almost ready for release and I was mistaken last night… BUT I wouldn’t be surprised if there are scores of TbK demos, many for songs that will never see the light of day.

14. yust - 12:05 pm // Wednesday, February 23, 2011

regardless of the reasons for all these delays, i’m just unhappy with what we were told was going to happen. Dec 09 to Feb 2011. 8 songs, do the math.

15. Steve - 12:55 pm // Wednesday, February 23, 2011

Billy has said repeatedly that with Teargarden he is really feeling pressure to make each song really great. Which probably disappoints the many fans who seem to hate most of the songs anyways. But, in any case, while Billy is as prolific as ever, it’s clear that his quality consistency has declined a bit since, say, the Mellon Collie era, and I think Billy knows this and this is why he is being very slow and deliberate about which songs he actually finishes and releases. But it’s very frustrating how slow it’s been, I agree there. There’s no reason they can’t average one song a month when he has his own studio!

I should point out also, there have been 10 songs in 12/09 to 2/11, but that’s still a dismal average.

16. josh james - 1:02 pm // Wednesday, February 23, 2011

As a musician I’m sure he isnt just being careful but probably over critical as well. I think the core fan base would be happy with pretty much anything. It’s the casual fans who are only going to like the “hits”. I’m sure he realizes he stopped writing to them a long time ago. Not that the songs aren’t catchy, but lets face it, the Pumpkins are an indie band now.

17. chaja - 5:04 pm // Wednesday, February 23, 2011

‘the Pumpkins are an indie band now.’

what that supposed to mean?

18. josh james - 5:09 pm // Wednesday, February 23, 2011

They are no longer on a major label. Making them independent, or “Indie”.

19. josh james - 5:10 pm // Wednesday, February 23, 2011

Billy always wanted to do things his way and that is what “Indie” truly means.

20. chaja - 5:32 pm // Wednesday, February 23, 2011

yeah, I understand that. but when you are indie, indpendent, that doesnt mean that you can’t make a hit.

21. Floppy Nono - 6:47 pm // Wednesday, February 23, 2011

it does if you’re an indie band with billy corgan in it

22. josh james - 6:56 pm // Wednesday, February 23, 2011

Nice!!! ha ha ha. It’s been a long time and I’m waiting for Billy to proove himself. If that’s even what he wants anymore.
But without the major label machine behind him, it’s going to take a frigging world changing track to do that!

23. skullivan - 8:06 pm // Wednesday, February 23, 2011

So are we taking bets on whether the next song comes out before or after they announce whatever change in direction Billy’s been hinting at for the last 6 months?

24. breathesgelatin - 8:54 pm // Wednesday, February 23, 2011

@skullivan
sure, what’s your money on?

25. yust - 12:05 am // Thursday, February 24, 2011

i’m guessing we don’t see anything until April. if that. i follow hundreds of bands, and SP have been the most dissapointing lately.

26. davin - 1:47 am // Thursday, February 24, 2011

i like the guitar sound on glow. i think the change in direction stuff is mostly centered around others writing/recording in the studio. lets hope these people bring the best out. i have faith in jeff doing so.

27. skullivan - 11:09 am // Thursday, February 24, 2011

@davin Nah I’m talking about the change in TbK’s release method. Billy has said a number of times he’s planning on changing it. Last I heard they were going to spend time writing in the Winter/spring and record over the summer. The 2 songs they’ve got recorded right now are presumably the only songs we’ll get until the Fall. What happens then is anyone’s guess.
