Here’s one of the more curious audience recordings made of a Smashing Pumpkins show: fan Rob Cardenaz used microphones to capture last Wednesday’s concert off speakers delivering a live audio feed to “the bar downstairs” inside West Hollywood’s Viper Room. The result is a nearly equal mix of (1) clear band sound with virtually no crowd noise and (2) a couple of loud, proximate conversations. Here are a few cuts:

Well, the talking on these is PRETTY obnoxious, and the mix is a bit too vocal heavy. It doesn’t sounds as big and full as a pumpkins performance usually is. That aside, these are a neat little glimpse into what’s happening right now. Hope I get to see them soon. It’s been too long. :P

Well, all the chatter is rather unbearable, but here we are with a fresh new Perfect “edition”. Or something akin. To me, Perfect has never been one of the best Pumpkins’ tracks, so I’m in someway interested if the band manage to shape it differentely. Ok, this is not much of a change after all, but…

What d-bags to talk through the whole concert like that. LA clubs suck. There are so many more deserving and respectful fans that would have loved to go to that show.
Anyone else having problems with the audio files after downloading them? It crashes my VLC player.

Worse than ICP fans? Naww. True Pumpkins fans are awesome. ‘i liked a few of their songs in the 90s and now they suck for changing’ Pumpkins fans are probably just as annoying as juggernauts though.
I was really looking forward to a boot of this show but JEEZ the talking is unbearable. Hopefully a clearer boot surfaces but I’m not holding my breath

Agreed, halo….you can’t blame them if they are not even in the same room as SP…There downstairs for fucks sake, they are allowed to talk and obviously not that interested in SP…I’m sure they wouldn’t talk if they where at the front of the stage…People don’t anyway unless they have super human hearing to hear over the music. Chill out folks and enjoy this great live music we have right now… Bring on Freak…counting down!!! :-)

I hate to say it, but everyone gets really excited when Monte tapes and it (as of late) inevitably doesn’t work out, but this mzero guy sure pulls through, like he did with the Backwards Clock Society vids.
More importantly, his videos don’t sacrifice audio and I strip it straight from mzeros’s. They’re perfectly suitable quality for me as well.
As Rome Burns lives, and it lives well! He has to record this one.

It is possible. Maybe Mike/Kerry lied or simply just wanted to make a surprise, by telling that only ‘Tom Tom’ will be on EP #2 and other 3 songs will be totally new and unheard for us. And that ‘As Rome Burns’ is not recorded yet. So now we basically know, that ‘Freak’ will be on EP #2. And maybe they recorded ‘As Rome Burns’ for this EP? They just didnt reveal that to us. If not, Im pretty sure that it will see the day of light, maybe on heavier EPs, I dont know… It would be cool if it would be a part of the second EP.. would would ;DD. But damn that live performance is insane. Love the new solo before the old one. The band should keep it on studio version. And I think that lyrics are slightly changed.But overall, I love this song.
That version of As Rome Burns makes me go all giddy with anticipation. Sounds effin’ great.
Also, whoever this Mzero character is, thanks for the great recordings for us dudes who haven’t been to these gigs.
what I meant is not to make a surprise, but maybe they wanted to keep in secret that ‘As Rome Burns’ ir recorded, and just said that they didn’t touch the song yet. we’ll see.

What does that mean Gv? Every song for TGBK is technically a single as the songs are being released one at a time. The pumpkins can choose any song they like to do a video or whatever if that is what you ment by “single”.

Interesting though- that version of Song For A Sun sounds much closer to the recording than the last time it was played live: more intricate guitars, less powerchords.
