Friday night at Club Nokia in Los Angeles, unexpected guests took the stage to perform at the MusiCares® Map Fund® Benefit, a charity dinner-and-show event for the organization “which provides members of the music community access to addiction recovery treatment.”

Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith joined girl super-group A Moment of Loudness (Kathy Valentine, Patty Schemel, Cherie Currie, Annabella Lwin, Charlotte Caffey, Leah Randi) onstage for “I Want Candy!” Photo at right courtesy Danny Moloshok / REUTERS.

Kristin Burns and Kerry Brown were on hand to provide a couple of twitpics; we’ll keep our eyes out for more coverage of the event, which was a veritable smorgasbord of rock and roll celebrity (press release). Wonder if Billy and Sharon Osbourne made small talk after the show…

hey, nice guitar you have. its pretty strange to see Billy with Gibson, but it fits him perfectly.

No post about the picture Kerry put up of Mike Byrne in the studio with some mysterious possibly-female person playing bass?

It’s now been revealed that Nicole Fiorentino is the new bassist (who is most likely the woman in the photo). Not surprised that it is a woman.

@Jericho Jeff must be rubbing off on him…

Good news, I’d say! I’m not surprised he went with a pro rather than an unknown… after seeing a dozen or so of those youtube “audition” videos, i’d have scrapped that idea too.

it’s nice to see him go back with a pro. then again, i was sorta baffled that he picked Mike Byrnes as the drummer, an unknown compared with some of the other drummers, but he was pretty impressive as of late.
