It seems like former Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha has been keeping busy as of late. According to his new official site, after last year’s tour with Tinted Windows, Iha has remixed the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, written the score to a Japanese independent film, and started work on the new Raymond & Maria album.
Oh, yeah. According to a headline post on his site, he’s also begun work on his “long-awaited follow-up solo album” which he jokes is halfway done “(in his mind)” (!).
For more Iha, check out his new Facebook fan page and the trailer for Kakera: A Piece of Our Life below.
Well, gotta give the man credit, he mentioned the SP albums under his discography. He’s not too pissed off about the past with the band to bolster his resume.
I would like to know if anyone else really, really love “Let it come down”?
I just can’t help it. For 13 years now.
Did anyone notice in the media section that Yelena took a professional photo of him? Hmmmmmmmmmm…..
He linked A Perfect Circle amongst others, but not SP…….. I’m not surprised by no SP. A little surprised by APC.
I do enjoy ‘Let it Come Down” from time to time. Luckily I think I enjoy it better than I actually do, so I hold it in higher regards then I probably should.
i love LICD, too. but James has talked about releasing a follow-up since 2001. so if it’s halfway done, i guess i’ll be looking forward to 2019. ;)
@Jason I think we have just solved Machina.
I can’t wait for the Corganites (Bollyheads?) to start coming out of the woodwork and start belittling James’ contributions to the Pumpkins. “How dare he say that he co-founded the band!”
Sounds like he’s rich and can do whatever the fsck he wants.
speaking of his richness
it’s sad he earned and (is earning) thousands of bucks from what Corgan had done back in the day. I mean it just doesn’t feel right, that he gets money from every smashing pumpkins album sold, when he wrote/contributed to around 5-10 out of 400, while being in the band
wemustneverbeapart, but he toured since day 1 to 2000 last concert.
Who knows how much James makes in residuals…does it even matter. He was with the band for 12 years! Either way, it’s good to see he has a website up now…and maybe someday a solo album.
Excellent, awesome, amazing, tremendous news! But you knew I’d say that.
I really like “Silver string”. And the slow songs at the end of LICD in general. They make me nostalgic.
His website is better than the current sp.com
:D
So awesome on many levels. Best ever news! Once again goes to show James Iha’s better than Billy Corgan.
To BigPumpkins…I have ALWAYS LOVED “Let It Come Down”!!!!
@Butterworx
Nice try, trolly.
let it come down > thefutureembrace
in my opinion. don’t get all butt hurt over it.
i’d go so far as let it come down is better than adore. well, it’s definitely got a more “timeless” sound than adore, thefutureembrace, machina and zitshit! james is forever!
I love Let it come down but it’s never close to be as good as any SP albums. Or even The Future Embrace.
“Once again goes to show James Iha’s better than Billy Corgan.”
how does this news show that?
I’m just happy to find other people who like Let it come down. There are many SP fans among my friends and absolutely no one appreciate James Iha’s solo album. They actually pretty much consider it’s total crap. I am almost shy to say I love it, haha.
I also feel that let it come down proves that james is a much better guitarist than billy will lead people to believe. there’s some wonderful playing on that record.
Maybe we could just talk about James without shitty comments toward Billy. I’m just saying…
LICD also is great proof of Iha’s contribution in terms of the Pumpkins layered guitar sound which is sorely missing in the new material. Iha was the cohesive vibrant glue that kept Billy’s manic meandering together.
James is a great guitaris. but not so great as Billy is. but Billy is not the greatest too. but from the SP legion – Billy is the guitar god. and still he sucks. he said that he invited D’Arcy and James to join the band again in 2007 and that they both disagreed. but that was fu**in’ lie. he didn’t even tried to invite them back. previous news proves this perfectly. especially the one, where he said ‘SP break up was a mistake’

Also, I’d like to know if anyone can tell me where I can find “Falling”, “Take care” and “Summer”, all hidden tracks from Iha. I have “My advice” but these 3 I can’t find anywhere.
Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.
@Bigpumpkins
I have them. Good stuff.
@KingChris
Can you make them available? :-p
If not, it’s ok. I guess I’ll manage to find them someday.
wait…has his website been up since feb and just reported on now? did i miss something here?
yes it’s been around a while, apparently. then someone on netphoria noticed it, i believe it was monte. now it’s news here.
falling is a great tune. very pumpkins esque in it’s main riff.
LOL POOR JAMES IHA
Great to see an excellent and talented musician keeping busy and blessing us all with his incredible gift.
Bigpumpkins…they’re b-sides on the “Be Strong Now” single. Try and find it on eBay or something.
“Summer” is actually a b-side on one of the Perfect singles.
Yes, thanks guys.
We love each other. True friends. Honestly.
i’ll sell you my be strong now single for $250
I’ll take it for free, Adam.
ok, mailing address?
Interesting preview. Might be a good movie.
Neverland.
Is that near Shadowland?
yeah. pretty near.. shadowland..
I’m surprised by all the iha love here. Even after he killed SP back in 2000.
@Chuck
Most people seem to assume, even here, that it’s Billy’s fault if James “killed” the band.
I don’t. What do I know.
you know more than most. iha deserves just as much blame as corgan does for the breakup of the band. but for some reason, he always gets a pass from the fans.
@ Harvey
Yes, exactly. I respect Iha and I actually love his solo album and I saw him live twice with A Perfect Circle but… to be honest I don’t care much about him in SP now. I like Jeff too.
And I love and trust BC. He’s making the great music. ;-)
Somebody prove how and why James Iha supposedly “killed the band”? Otherwise, it kinda just looks like you have your head up Billy Corgan’s ass! Lol.
