The New Hole Record
Hi,
There is a lot going on in music land and I haven’t had the time to update the blog as much as I would like. I know many of you want to know about the obelisk screw up, and I will blog about that once I have ALL the details.
There is something regarding Courtney Love that needs to be cleared up for those of you who care.
Yesterday I received an email from a journalist inquiring about the twitter exchange between @courtneyloveuk and @studiodog regarding who wrote what on the Hole song Skinny Little Bitch. The journalist thought that I was implying that @billy wrote the “riff” to the song.
Here is my reply:
Hi,
That was miss read about Billy and Skinny Little Bitch, as far as I know Billy had nothing to do with that song. Here is how it all went down and you can quote me on this.
Back in 2007 when Courtney finished a bunch of songs with Linda Perry, she (Courtney) gave me a copy of the CD to listen to. I thought the record sounded great but I felt, as did Billy, that it needed a few upbeat, ALT Rock singles. Songs that would get played at Alternative Rock radio and not just Adult Contemporary Radio. So we, Billy, Courtney, and I “Holed” up in my studio and started writing songs that would work for Courtney/Hole. This is when we demoed the song Billy wrote called Samantha.
I gave her a handful of songs that had single potential, really good songs! Courtney and I then had a “falling out” and I told her I wanted the songs back to use for another project. I have not heard the record so I don’t know what it sounds like. I know Samantha is on the record but I have not heard the final recording so I don’t know how much it has changed from it’s original Corgan form. That is between her and Billy. It is a great song and I had a blast playing on and recording the demo.
The first time I heard Skinny Little Bitch was on the radio and for whatever reason it immediately reminded me of a song I gave her 3 years ago. I wrote to her on Twitter that the song sounded familar… she then tweeted back to me that the songs I gave her were not referenced in any way and that SLB was the brain child of Micko. Whatever all that shit sounds the same anyway :) If she said I didn’t have anything to do with SLB then I didn’t… it’s no big deal and I truly do not care. I am happy she is back on the radio, she is talented, and if she can focus her energy on the band she could have a good run with this record. I am also flattered that I was given the chance to help her get back on the radio. I hope the best for her and that she can find peace and happiness in life.
He also promises to blog about “the obelisk screwup” once he has all the details. Lol.
looks like he deleted it… here is the google cache : http://74.125.155.132/search?q=cache:yUDAIYv3T7oJ:glittercop.blogspot.com/2010/03/new-hole-record.html+http://glittercop.blogspot.com/2010/03/new-hole-record.html&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us
