I am an SDRE fan and to hear that they are recording a new album offers the possibility of something enjoyable and/or ‘rocking’. I think this pretty much anytime I hear about an artist I like recording something new. Meanwhile, dorky music nerds debating ‘legacies’ that may or may not be ‘tarnished’ is about the least rock-and-roll thing I can think of…maybe narrowly edging out anyone anywhere ever using the word ‘legacy’ in any context whatsoever.
I too am an SDRE fan. They played 1 new song when i saw them at Metro late last year, and it was pretty awesome. They all definitely looked happy to be playing together again. I will be seeing them again at Coachella this april. I’m looking forward to hearing more new songs…about as equally as I’m looking forward to hearing old songs.
This is the last fan site that should be pointing fingers about tarnishing legacies…
No, see, it’s ironic and hypocritical because the Pumpkins’ revival is treated by the media negatively and SDRE is treated positively!
Let’s ignore the fact that all four original SDRE members are involved and excited about their reunion…
@Dystopic: No kidding, this whole “Smashing Pumpkins” thing has been a farce ever since Ron Roesing left.
Sigh.
