Last night, Jason mentioned that the Jessica Simpson song “Who We Are” was scheduled to debut this morning on KIIS-FM. As he speculated, this was indeed the premiere of her studio collaboration with Billy Corgan, pictured at right, hard at work [photo via the lovely Kristin Burns]. She spoke at length with host Ryan Seacrest, and you can hear the recorded interview here or below:

And if you don’t have time to listen to the full interview, People Magazine excerpts this key soundbyte:
“I can’t find good enough words to speak about Billy,” Simpson said. “He’s a very, very dear friend. For him to give his time and his talents and share them with me, it was a great experience. And I hope we can do more music together.”
The track is available free to download on the interwebs here. Summer jam, y’all?
UPDATE (3/10): Corgan and Simpson reportedly share the songwriting credit with Evan Bogart and Shari Short; Kerry Brown has the producer credit.
so we have to sign up for her email list to hear it?

Not a huge fan of the song, but then again I wouldn’t consider myself part of the target audience.
this is better than anything put out on teargarden so far
I like it….<3
oy vey that was terrible. never actually heard her sing before, but man does she suck.
remember when corgan wrote a song for 90′s pop star natalie imbruglia called identify? now that was a great tune.
meh
WHO WE ARE WHO WE ARE WHO WE ARE WHO WE ARE.
it sticks in your brain. perhaps this is the beginning of a cult like brainwashing?
it’s the way she sings that really kills it for me.
the song itself is pretty innocuous and generic.
Sounds like she’s singing on top of a bunch of Siamese fuzz. Lol.
who you are
who i am
who are you
who am i
Oh dear. :/
“Identify” from Imbruglia-Billy was truly very good indeed.
And, well, this song(Who we are) is efficient in its style. Sounds like a good catchy poppy single from the 90′s.
yo big catchy poppy single from the 90′s? sounds like something billy corgan really needs
At some point, maybe. But you see, I prefer he does whatever he really feels like. In my opinion he pretty much always did.
At least we know he still can deliver that kind of tunes if he wants to. Not that I ever doubted it though.
In a far future, Billy will be much more praised than he is now. Mark my words.
I’m so sick of this “nobody understands me” shit. The era of lost souls continues.
