According to an endearing post on the Smashing Pumpkins’ official site from Ginger Reyes Pooley, she will soon be sporting a baby bump! She says:
I want to share something wonderful that is happening this year for me also. My husband Kris and I are expecting a baby in October! We are very excited.
Many congrats to the lovely couple! Ginger goes on to elaborate on their plans up to the delivery date:
Until the baby is here I will be on the road working on my own music as Kris plays keyboards for Morrissey (with Matt Walker on drums).
Hmmm. Great gig for Kris, but does this mean no touring this year for the Pumpkins? A replacement bassist? What’s the plan?

then i guess we have to believe that Ginger is out. Being a parent is more important then being a rock star, as I am sure Jimmy can confirm
They never said Ginger, Jeff, Lisa, Chris, the horn section, or the violinist were full time permanent members. I think this next tour it will just be said that The Smashing Pumpkins is whatever combo of people is available to play Billy Corgan’s music, which is the same thing The Smashing Pumpkins have been since 1988. I can’t wait for the next tour to see what changes may be coming.
I wish to stress that if I were in the States right now and had made this post, the header would read “Widdle Baby Smashing Pumpkins”. Jilly just can’t spell…
