“This just in from the studio, The Smashing Pumpkins’ new song, G.L.O.W., is now finished.
“Co-producer Bjorn Thorsud [sic] says ‘G.L.O.W. has me glowing all over.’”
Bjorn again, eh? As in “Bjorn again synth-rock band?”
I hope not.
bjorn???
overproduced music …
cant they just do it raw?!
i hope they dont butcher the song
Now Billy has Honestly Declared his Faith and The Light has been Brought, I’m Ready for every song from now and forever onward to leave us with that trademark Jesus G.L.O.W.
Why make it like news to tell us the name before the song was even recorded? Hell, why tell us a single is even forthcoming instead of surprising us with it on another soundtrack somewhere? Seriously, SP.com, we don’t need day-by-day updates. They should have finished recording the dozen residency songs this summer, and we just KNOW they haven’t, instead concentrating on their “box set” of demos RSPAA already has (why doesn’t sp.com/audio just fucking host everything already????) and a DVD inventing a controversy where really, they should have just done what Davin said and do a summer stadium tour, then a trio of residencies in the fall including the Metro. Now we’re supposed to get excited about a single song recorded with Flood, who can’t even produce Sigur Ros right, let alone his work with Billy for the past 9 years? Why Billy, do you Why Billy do you Why Why Why….
^^ Wow, someone eat the rest of your Cheerios for breakfast, Ethan?
While I 100% agree that a lot of the “news” over at sp.com shouldn’t constitute its namesake, at least it gives us fodder for blogging material. :) Silver linings FTW.
Also, the “candid shots” in the studio? Did someone like, take a Holga camera and shoot pictures of Polaroids? Is this like, retro-meta photography? Lord have mercy for my eyes. I guess G.L.O.W. will impart a vintage 70′s era, based on those shots.
the day billy starts taking davin’s advice is the day i stop listening to sp

Yeah, Jill, I just want my Cheerios with D milk again, not skim…
It’s just like, you love something so much it hurts. You don’t mind as much when OTHER people’s children do something stupid, but it really hurts when it’s yours. Billy, come home! We miss you! Oh, I’m just whining. I’m sure I’ll love GLOW, I’ve loved everything else. But all those could have beens…
Really, Jill, is there any discussion about uploading the RSPAA to SP.com? That seems so reasonable to me, those priceless archives. Or are they not because of a pay-per-show plan?
what is on the RSPAA that isn’t on any torrent site out there or LMA? why does SP.com need to be hosting this? are you having trouble finding something?
dufff gen- (okay, misspellings and an extra hyphen?)
I don’t think that anyone has been talking about uploading the RSPAA to SP.com. I think the projects they’ve been undertaking go far and wide beyond the boundaries of what we know is out there, instead focusing on what’s been tucked away from studio and home sessions that we didn’t even know existed.
But it’s all pure speculation at this point, so unlike a lot of other “fan sites” out there, I choose to be hopefully waiting for this to happen instead of dead-set on it being a travesty I could ironically care less about.
I think the band is at a crossroads of trying to figure out how to satisfy an (aging) fanbase who does want attention paid to the old eras, at the same time trying to satisfy the creative urges that will bring on future music and output (and new fans). The future stuff excites me more, to be honest, and GLOW will definitely be more exciting to hear live later this summer/fall than will be the box set they’ll release.
